We scapped data from various online sourcs to find all the space travellers up untill October 2023. We used Tableau Prep to clean the dataset and presented and visualised the information using Tableau Prep. We aimed to shine a light on the remarkable women who have made it to space, while also painting a picture of a future where space travel is accessible to everyone. As of October 2023, 674 astronauts have travelled to space, with commercial flights beginning to open up the final frontier to a broader audience. However, a closer look at the numbers reveals a gap: only 12.47% of these space travellers are women. This disparity isn't just about statistics; it's about the dreams and aspirations of young girls who look to the stars and yearn to be part of that grand adventure. Our dashboard celebrates the progress made so far and acknowledges the challenges ahead, highlighting the need for a more inclusive approach to space exploration. It's a call to action for educators, policymakers, and the space industry to work together towards a future where the wonders of space are within reach of all who dream of reaching for the stars. The goal of our project is simple: to inspire and encourage a love for space that knows no bounds, ensuring that every child can see themselves as a part of the next generation of explorers.

We're thrilled to announce that our tableau dashboard was honoured as Tableau Public’s Viz of the Day on 22 March 2024. This prestigious recognition spotlights data visualisations that ignite meaningful conversations, demonstrate the vast capabilities of Tableau, and uplift the inspiring work within the Tableau Community. Our visualisation, which draws attention to the achievements of women in space exploration and the future of accessible space travel, was selected from among thousands of submissions. Being featured in the Viz of the Day gallery has allowed our work to connect with a global audience, fostering growth and sparking curiosity among data enthusiasts everywhere. It's a celebration of how data storytelling can influence and expand our understanding of critical issues, such as gender equality in STEM fields, including space exploration. We're deeply honoured by this recognition and hope it encourages others to explore data visualization as a powerful tool for storytelling and change.
